Step 1: There is one hook on each side, Bend hook by 90° making it vertical to the rear cover of panel light.

Step 2: Turn off power,remove the ceiling panel. Then place the light in to the T-bar, ensure the panel light is attached to the ceiling.

Step 3: Remove appropriate round knock-out(s) and connect conduit to J-box with proper connector(s).

Step 4: Put a connector to the end of AC input wire and tightly.the line connect to the connector with the black mark, the natural connect to another,the ground connect to the green wire.

Understanding Power Factor and why it’s important to led lighting?

Power factor is the relationship (phase) of current and voltage in AC electrical distribution systems. Under ideal conditions current and voltage are “in phase” and the power factor is “100%.” If inductive loads (motors) are present, power factor less than 100% (typically 80 to 90%) can occur.

In AC circuits, the power factor is the ratio of the real power that is used to do work and the apparent power that is supplied to the circuit.
The power factor can get values in the range from 0 to 1.
When all the power is reactive power with no real power (usually inductive load) - the power factor is 0.
When all the power is real power with no reactive power (resistive load) - the power factor is 1.
Low power factor, electrically speaking, cause’s heavier current to flow in power distribution lines in order to deliver a given number of kilowatts to an electrical load.


The effects?
The power distribution system in the building, or between buildings, can be overloaded by excess (useless) current.
Generating and power distribution systems owned by Edisto Electric have their capacity measured in KVA (kilo amps).

With unity power factor (100%), it would take 2,000 KVA of generating and distribution network capacity to deliver 2,000 KW. If the power factor dropped to 85%, however, 2,353 KVA of capacity would be needed. Thus, we see that lower power factor has an adverse effect on generating and distribution capacity.

If you own a large building, you should consider correcting poor power factor for either or both of these reasons:
• To reduce the possibility of additional power factor charges in the event that Edisto Electric starts billing for PF corrections and
• To restore the (KVA) capacity of overloaded feeders within the building or building complex.

One thing you have to know about choosing lamps

Whether you’re remodeling your current home or building a new one, your recessed lights generate heat, and that heat needs to go somewhere. If you don’t want to set your ceiling on fire, it’s important to know when you can use non-IC rated downlights and when you need IC rated fixtures. So what is the difference?

Non-IC rated fixtures require at least 3 inches of space between the metal of the can and the ceiling insulation. Non-IC rated downlights are often used in remodels and ceilings without insulation, such as unfinished attics, unless you’re feeling ambitious and want to rip out your ceiling. These units have a single can design that requires an air pocket to dissipate heat. They are less expensive than IC rated fixtures and can be used with higher Watt bulbs.

If you want to install non-IC rated fixtures in an insulated ceiling, you can use an airtight cover to keep the insulation from touching the can. This allows you to insulate around the cover to help prevent condensation build-up, mold growth, and minimize drafts. You can find these covers premade or make your own using rigid foam insulation and sealing it using insulation foam. Just remember to keep at least 3 inches of space between the metal housing and any other materials.

IC rated fixtures can be used in either insulated or uninsulated ceilings, but are almost always used in new construction rather than remodels. Thanks to a double can or “can within a can” design, only the outer can comes in contact with the insulation and remains cool enough to prevent combustion. This way the insulation in the ceiling can rest directly against the metal without becoming a fire hazard.
