Lighting Design Skills for Hotel Room

Whether it’s chasing poetry and distance, or business travel, hotel rooms are the second home of a foreign country and play an important role in the journey.
The hotel’s rooms are based on commercial value and focus on providing guests with a comfortable and relaxing environment, so the atmosphere is extremely important. As a tool to effectively adjust the indoor atmosphere, lighting plays an important role in the design of the room. This article will share the skills of the hotel room atmosphere through the case.
  1. Reflecting spatial characteristics with indirect lighting
The most rest room in the hotel room is not suitable for too bright. If the ground illumination exceeds 300lx, the elements in the room will look dazzling. In order to create an environment suitable for rest, the hotel rooms are illuminated by indirect lighting along the human activity line. For example, entering the room with a downlight or a spotlight for basic lighting, an anti-glare downlight or a spotlight on the top of the sofa avoids the sight of the person, and the tabletop uses a 100lx table lamp.

2. Expressed by the color of the light that matches the material
Although there is no provision for a material to use only one light color, there are certain restrictions on the type of light color suitable for each material.
In general, an incandescent lamp of around 3000K will make the material appear mild and highlight the hue of red, while white light of more than 4200K will leave an impression of cold and refreshing. In order to create a warm home, the color temperature of the materials in the hotel rooms is mainly warm, so it is suitable for matching with warm light colors. In addition to light color, color rendering is also important. To achieve an aesthetically pleasing material effect, a color-developing luminaire can be selected.

3. Cleverly express the concavity of the material
If the room has bumpy features, the light and shadow gradation through reasonable lighting will present an inviting room environment. If you want to suppress the shadow and give a three-dimensional effect, you can choose the light wall illumination method; if the surface of the material tends to be flat, you can use indirect illumination or continuous downlight illumination.

4. Evenly illuminate the entire plane
Most of the rooms use indirect lighting to evenly illuminate the entire wall, ceiling or headboard. When setting up the lighting, take a large opening to spread the indirect light to the entire plane. When setting the continuous downlight, the downlights are arranged densely in the gap, the whole plane will be evenly illuminated, and the gap should have a certain depth, so as to eliminate the shadow when the light is emitted. When setting the distance between the wall washers, it should be noted that the distance between the lamps and the lamps leaving the wall is 1:1 to ensure that the entire wall can be evenly illuminated.

5. Perfectly connected into a light shape
The formation of a strip by continuous light overlap is a common way of creating an atmosphere, and downlights and spotlights are often used. However, when using this technique, you should choose a product that spreads the light and softens the edges of the diffused light. In order to create the shape and sense of the light, balance the contrast between light and darkness. In general, it is necessary to increase the brightness of about 4-5 times of the basic illumination. For example, the basic illumination is 50lx, and it takes 200lx to reach the shape of the light.

6. Control the range of illumination
Creating a comfortable sleeping environment is the main purpose of the hotel rooms. Generally, there are not many lighting fixtures in hotel rooms. Each lamp should also control the illumination range and brighten the space that should be illuminated. Adding a lampshade is a general method, and a lens and a visor can be used for better results. Some luminaires come with lenses and have very good light control.

7. Presenting a beautiful pattern of material
The styled hotel will be decorated with materials that match it, and in order to accentuate the style, indirect lighting can be used to brighten the material, perfect for a perfect pattern. However, if it is a glass material, pay attention to the light transmission. If the pattern is drawn on the opaque film, the other side of the pattern should be illuminated at a small angle; if the two sides of the double glazing are respectively affixed with a pattern, a light source can be disposed in the middle. It shines from the inside and shows a deep feeling.

8. Balanced transition with natural light
Floor-to-ceiling windows are more common in star hotels. Standing in front of the window, the city has a panoramic view. However, the glass can reflect light and form a shadow, so it is necessary to specially handle the balanced transition between the light source and the natural light to form a comfortable visual effect. The glass and window glass here are not the same. The floor-to-ceiling windows of the hotel rooms cannot form shadows from the inside to the outside, thus affecting the visual effect of enjoying the scenery. The illumination of the indirect light at a certain distance will realize the coordination of natural light.

Lighting design is an art, the value of light and the condensation of human thought. Excellent lighting design can resonate with the soul of the object and the spirit of the human being, thus affecting the secretion of related substances in the human body and regulating the body and mind. Hotel rooms are one of the lighting categories, and functional lighting is the foundation. The focus is on creating an atmosphere that matches the positioning of the hotel, providing guests with a comfortable journey.
